Investigators at the Milford Police Department received a report at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 from the Bridgeport Avenue Vehicle dealership. An employee reported that the shop had been broken into and two sets of car keys had been taken - though no vehicles were taken from the lot.

According to police, utilizing an undercover officer, the Milford Police Department set up and observed the dealership throughout the night and during the midnight shift. At approximately 2:15 a.m., a man matching the description of the suspect who stole the keys was spotted entering the business.

Police said that officers then were able to surround the building and found their suspect - later identified as Stratford resident Brandon Jones - hiding in a box truck on a nearby property.

Jones, 26, was found to be in possession of the two stolen keys from the earlier break-in and he was arrested. Jones was charged with burglary, larceny, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. Jones is currently being held in lieu of $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Court on Friday, March 8.
